Industrial gauges made in Australia 1940s-1950s
This collection set comprises 6 gauges, all rescued from various machines now put out to pasture. I collected them with a view to making an art work – they all have that fabulous industrial vibe – but just haven’t gotten round to it. And truth be told- they look just as great heaped together as a collection on a shelf.
In the same way that I love vintage kitchen scales, slide rules and cameras – I love gauges. It’s something about the moving parts and the way that functional objects were crafted so beautifully in the 40s and 50s.
For sale: $AUD95 [I would love to see what you will do with the gauges…]
very cool!
thanks jayne- you like a bit of industrial vintage?
Ooooh…I love this collection…nicely done!
why, thanks! i live near an industrial area and always look out for industrial bits and pieces. and gauges are trending right now.
Ok, NOW you have me drooling. So, when I come to Australia – lets get dirty and dig up some greasy stuff like this! But, I’ll wear a dress doing it.
you bet we will…but of course i shall insist that we all do our ‘collecting’ properly attired! dresses for everyone, including mike. i may even wear a nice vintage apron, in case i get grease on my chiffon.
HILARIOUS! We might require some alcohol in order to get a police officer to dress drag – ok LOTS of spirits – LOTS. I do know that around here, in order to go through junk yards you must wear closed toe shoes. That might throw off the chiffon.
