Retro Italian souvenir images
made in Italy c. 1960s
This collection was inspired after I visited Italy. It comprises a c.1960s Venice guidebook, 60s postcards in book form from Venice, Roma and Florence and 60s souvenir film slides from Rome and the Vatican.
The souvenir guide book is in excellent condition and is quite funny to read with its mangled English. The souvenir postcard books have never been used and are still complete – the old retro photographs are very stage-managed and have been over-coloured in that delightful 60s era style.
The souvenir slides have never been opened, and I expect they will have that lovely rosy patina of all old slides. They could be viewed using the ‘Family’ slide projector, posted below!
Crown Lynn ‘Clematis’ tableware
made in New Zealand c.1960s
This is a breakfast set for 4 – in Clematis design [pattern #141.] Imagine waking up to this beautiful set at breakfast…it would make everything taste good! Bowls, side plates and cup & saucers for you and three friends/family/intimate acquaintances. Fantastic!
This is my first collection from NZ, which is a terrible oversight. But since both Australia and New Zealand have Clematis- a perfumed flowery climber – I naturally responded to the botanical theme. And the funky retro graphics, and colourings. Botanical, flowery themes – and the spare graphics – will get me in every time.
Scarily, while researching current prices, I saw one side plate on eBay for $28. This set has sixteen pieces. For sale: $AUD120
