Retro club badges

Retro club badgesHornsby RSL badges
made in Sydney, 1968 – 1986

I love these badges due to their horticultural component – the Waratah, the NSW floral emblem. Good old Hornsby [a mover and shaker on the Sydney suburban scene] has snaffled the waratah for its own.

Twelve badges from Hornsby RSL– covering the years ’68 to ’86 [a nice synchronicity.] The RSL is the Returned & Services League; a support organisation for people who are/were serving in the Australia Defence Force.

A lovely collection if you a] live in Hornsby and frequent the RSL; or b] make jewellery out of enamelled badge pieces. There are some fantastic makers out there doing fantastic things with old enamelled badges.

‘Granada’ coffee set

Granada coffee setVilleroy and Boch ‘Granada’ coffee set
made in Luxembourg, 1983-1986

Being made in the 80s, this set is the youngest/newest part of my collection. I haven’t collected anything else from the 80s, but couldn’t resist this set. It was highly desirable when it was first produced, and people still hanker after the delicious redness of the glaze.

The coffee set has never been used; the coffee pot, creamer and sugar bowl all have original stickers on their bases. Perfect on display, or for a sophisticated way to serve coffee!
