Following the bar ware theme, here are a selection of nutcrackers of various vintages. Nutcrackers are highly collectible and there are a number of websites dedicated to these collections- www.nutcrackermuseum.com is perhaps the least crackers of the lot.
Figural nutcrackers are highly sort after- the parrot crackers here date from the 1920s. The cylindrical pair under the parrot crackers are also valuable- made by HMO in America – from the 20s-40s.
The nutcrackers are all made of steel with the exception of the aluminium pair on the top right. Fashioned to resemble lobster claws, these crackers are good for nuts and shellfish. The last pair, with timber handles was commonly found as part of a 60s bar ware set.
