Mid-century modern table lamp
made in Australia, c. 1950s
I love this timber-reeded light. Particularly its asymmetric cylinder shape [there isn’t a name for that shape- I looked.] I also can’t ascertain who made this lamp- all I know is it’s Australian made as it’s wired for Australian conditions. It takes a maximum 40watt lamp, and the timber reeding looks to be hand-produced.
The lamp has been checked by an electrician who has certified it’s good to go. And the rest of the lamp is in excellent condition also. Perfect for a Parker furniture sideboard!
For sale: $AUD145
LOVE this photo. Set up so well. Table, lamp, map – adore them all!
thanks! i love old maps too…and while i don’t really collect retro furniture, i couldn’t resist this lamp.
That lamp is very cool!
thanks jayne- i think it’s pretty cool.
now this is a beaut!
hey S&S, it’s a beauty alright. i’m glad you think so; you have impeccable taste!
I love the lamp and I also love the way you’ve displayed it. What is it about old maps that makes them so interesting?
thanks jennifer; i think old maps are fascinating because they are large, with a nostalgic old-fashioned feel, and also a bit funny. sort of ‘old school’ in every sense of the term!
I like nice design and this lamp has a simple but lovely elagance
yes, it is that…simple and elegant- mid century modernism at it’s best.
